Day 2 - Splashing in the pool

Everybody dance now! Enjoying the sun, although Emma says the water's cold. The hotel cafe at the end of the pool is where we have breakfast.

Keith is getting his dinner from a cart on the street. He says his belly is big, but I think it is not.

Emma is attracted to many things in the shops along the way. After one day of multiple asks, we have established a daily allowance which is to cover all pressies, toys, gifts to street folk, and sweets! She also needs to say hello in Thai, and then barter for a good price.

Arrived in Bangkok... Safe and sane!

Here we are after checking into our first hotel (Bangkok),a very beautiful, restful place after our long flight. Door to door we had been travelling for 27 hours! Amazingly, we even had the patience to ride the "awesome" descending moving sidewalk "like a waterslide with bumps" in the Bangkok airport... twice.

No problems at immigration with Emma and two fathers, but the taxi driver had a good chuckle when he asked in his broken English if she had "no mom" and Steve responded "two dads".

Emma's Thoughts:

We are going to the pool because IT IS SO HOT!!!!!!!!!!!).  I talked to a cat, and there are a lot of them, and the cat said, "I am hungry!" The cats are so skinny.  

We're Checked In!

Welcome to the Mulligan-Jones Grand Adventure Travel Blog!
Last night, before going to bed, we checked in for our flight to Manila and then on to Bangkok with Philippine Airlines. We take off from Vancouver at 10:15pm for a 14 hour flight(groan). Our itinerary includes Bangkok, Vientiane (Laos), Luang Prabang (Laos), two nights in a tree house in the Bokeo jungle of Northern Laos, Chiang Mai, 10 days on the Andaman coast islands of Thailand, Singapore, Bali, the east coast of Australia in a camper van, the Blue Mountains and Sydney, finishing off with a jaunt around New Zealand in another camper van. We'll be back to Vancouver on March 21st.
